Happy Birthday Amos!

Photos Belong to the EverDay diary.

Today Amos turns 2!  I can't belive how time flies and how much he has grown from the 4 lb puppy we picked up from G's mom in Ohio.  We of course will have a small party at the house tonight complete with presents and a small steak for the birthday boy.

One thing I will never have enough of, wall space.  I know many think less is more but for me I love filling my home with art that I adore.  I'm currently creating a wall of art in my back room and hope that it can look half as good as these spaces.

I saw a book at Barnes & Noble the other day titled, "Things my Kids Have Destroyed."  I should write a similar book and name it "Things my Dog Has Destroyed" and I could include all these items.

My sneaker

His bed (x2)

Numerous rolls of toilet paper
My bathtowel
My sportsbra

The lid to his waterbowl

Weekend by the Numbers

1.) Growing up my favorite Easter candies were Cadbury eggs.  A few days ago I went to the store looking for the sweet treat, but walked out of the store disappointed that I couldn't find them.  Rather than sulk I decided to make my own using this recipe.  They were delicious although, I realized that my chocolate skills could use some major work.

2.)  Friday we finally got our new sofa.  The boys immediately tested it out; they gave it four paws up.

3.)  To rid ourselves of our old sofa management let us store it in a vacant apartment until G's friend could pick it up.  Big mistake, as we feel in love with this apartment.  This unit is unavailable but we put our names down for the next one that opens up.  And yes we were the creepy people who went back to the empty apartment to take photos and some measurements.

4.) Sunday was a gorgeous day in the 80s.  Not wanting to waste the day G and I packed up the boys, packed some lunch, and headed to the Old Town waterfront for a picnic and siesta in the sun.

5.)  I blame the sun for a case of the munchies Sunday night, to cure my illness I whipped up a classic coffee cake.

Always a classic, I can't get these espadrilles out of my head.  I particularly adore the gold stiriped ones at top.

2.) Woven Outdoor Couch via Ikea
3.) Classic Watering Can via Ikea
4.) Retro Orange Side Table/Stool via West Elm
5.) Luminaries via Pottery Barn
6.) Stackable Giraffe Planters via Anthropologie

The past few days have been great weather wise, I have no complaints (although don't get me started on the pollen).  The mild weather has me itching to get outside and get the patio ready for the season.  This year I'm hoping to change some things up and make the space comfortable, relaxing, and doggie-friendly.  I hate to admit but right now it looks pretty sad.  Plus the sooner I get things settled, the sooner I can head to the greenhouse and buy some gorgeous flowers to further liven up the space.

With the Living Room pretty much done, aside from some small accessories and maybe a large scale art project I have set my sights on the bedroom.  I like it now but I'm on a mission to make it more tranquil and relaxing, swathed in muted tones and a mixture of textures.  The photo above has served as my jumping off point as I look for pieces to encorporate.

Weekend by the Numbers

1.) G and I got rained out at the Farmer's Market but I did manage to get a fresh sourdough loaf from one of our favorite coffee houses and flowers from Whole Foods.

2.)  Our old shag rug had seen better days (2 puppies later) and we lucked upon the perfect one on sale for a great price.

3.)  No more lugging bulky cages, the boys can now ride in style in the the car.  We took it for a 'test run' in the rain on Saturday.

Photos belong to the EverDay diary.

4.)  Sunday was a much better day and we spent it outside.  After a quick trip to U Street we ended up at the Old Town waterfront.  Milo seemed especially glad to hang out on the grass for a bit.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello lovelies, what are you up to this weekend? G and I have yet to make any plans but I'm hoping to swing by a farmer's market for some seasonal fruits and veggies.  Saturday is supposed to be rainy so maybe I can finally make it to some of the art exhibits I've been waiting to see.  Of course a trip to the dog park and a "doggie day" are always in store. Hope your weekend is fabulous.
