Whisper Quiet

The apartment has been eerily quiet the past two weeks without Amos and Milo.  I miss the jingle-jangle of their dog tags as they wrestle in the bedroom or race down the hall before dive-bombing their bed.  Thankfully I leave tomorrow morning for West Virginia, can't wait for doggie kisses.

PS.  Unfortunately G can't make the trip. The place should proof extremely quiet for him; he could use it.

Staunton

Come Friday G and I are headed up to Boston for a quick weekend trip.  Since I loathe the idea of leaving the boys in a kennel, we met my folks halfway between DC and West Virginia; so they can watch them until Thanksgiving.  Halfway ends up around Staunton, VA.  A quaint, little, old town with lots of character; it doesn't hurt that they also happen to have some mighty fine ice cream.

Halloween Parade

After the 'less than desirable' weather on Saturday we decided to spend Sunday in the crisp Fall air and watch the annual Del Ray Halloween parade.  I'm not big on dressing in costume but I enjoy watching others look creative and kooky.

Glen Echo Park

With only a few free hours on Sunday, G and I decided to finally make our way to Glen Echo Park.  Located in MD right off of the Clara Barton Pkwy, the park was only a short 25 minutes from the house.  Originally an amusement park in the 1920s and 1930s it is now utilized as an artist space for classes and plein air painting.  The park was somewhat empty which I enjoy, given this urban area.  I selfishly wish they would turn it back into a fun, bustling destination but I think its current existence suits it just fine and can serve as a quiet break from the noise and congestion that is DC.

Home Redo

Throughout my life I've been to Charleston, SC many times thanks to work and my parents.  I'll be honest that as a kid I hated the city but now as I've gotten older I love it and actually miss that I won't be heading back this year.  The streets, architecture, and of course the FOOD.  Plus noone makes fun of my accent, since they all sound worse than I do.

Dwell recently featured a classic Charleston house being fixed up by a young couple.  There is so much work left to be done but so much potential.  Here's to hoping that one day I can have a house full of fireplaces (or at least one!) and a wrap around porch.

Weekend

Sunday was my birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better day (er, weekend actually) complete with an arts festival in Bethsda; a trip to the Farmer's Market for gala apples, sweet potatoes, and beans; and perfect weather perfect for walks with G and the boys.
